IPAD publishers offer an Edge Pricing
With few exceptions, welcomed the printed Apple’s new IPAD Wednesday, eager to exploit the 125 million people who already have iTunes accounts and are predisposed to buy more content from Apple.
“We have learned that there is never a good idea to stand between a consumer and a preference for where they get their content,” said John Makinson, CEO of Penguin Group, the book’s publisher.
With Apple, according to a formula Tether maximum e-book price of the printed price on the same book, the publishers could charge $ 12.99 to $ 14.99 for most general fiction and literature titles – more than the common $ 9.99 price, had Amazon actually set for new releases and best sellers. Apple will keep 30 percent of each sale, and publishers will take 70 percent.

In the short term authors and publishers, will probably earn less from the book sales for IPAD. On Kindle, Amazon is subsidizing the $ 9.99 price to pay publishers a higher wholesale price equal to what the bookstores usually pay for the print editions. But publishers were worried that Amazon would be the dominant player, eventually requiring lower digital wholesale prices.

Newspapers had mixed reactions to IPAD. Martin A. Nisenholtz, Senior Vice President of digital operation of The New York Times Company, said the combination of IPAD and app “joins the best of the best digital.
The Times has not suggested any deal with Apple yet, do it too early to say whether the newspaper would charge for the application or ask for subscriptions to IPAD.
