Spurned Offers for Sex Tape by John Edwards’ former aide
A former aide twice presidential candidate John Edwards said he has received and rejected offers of “large quantities” of selling what he says is a sex tape that shows Edwards with his former mistress.
Andrew Young claimed in a book published last week that he found the tape in a box left in a home he and his wife had shared with Edward’s mistress, videographer rial Hunter.
“I could have told this story without including the sex tape,” Young said in the interview that aired Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “We have been offered large sums of money, and we said no.”
Young said that he had tape of phone messages from Edwards to back up his account of what he saw when he helped cover up Edwards’s affair and subsequent children. Edwards’ attorneys have accused the young man to write “policy” for financial gain, Young denied.
Hunter last week won a temporary restraining order in North Carolina right-consuming Young returns in the 2006 video “of a very private and personal nature.” She has also filed a lawsuit against Young and his wife, seeks a jury trial and damages for infringement of privacy.
Edwards only last month admitted paternity Hunter’s daughter who is almost the 2nd, he and his wife, Elizabeth, are now separated.
Deputies said in court documents filed Friday; they went to Young’s home to try to restore ties, and personal photos of Hunter. After some discussion, said Young’s attorney the authorities that he was not able to immediately turn over the tape.
Young was asked Monday whether he planned to hand over the videotape as Hunter demanded.
“I will let my lawyers handle it,” he says.
