Obama Health Care Speech – “It’s Time To Act”
Obama Health Care Speech: It’s Time To Act | Obama takes charge, demands vote on health care
President Barack Obama pauses while speaking about health care reform, Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in the East Room of the White House in Washington.

President Barack Obama says he does not know how his plan for restructuring health care will play politically, but he is convinced that “it is true.”
Obama has urged Congress to act on his latest proposal, updated with a handful of Republican ideas.
He urges lawmakers on Wednesday to complete its work, and he said the American people are waiting for Washington’s leaders to act.
Obama said: “As long as I hold this office, I intend to provide the leadership.”
The White House released excerpts of Obama’s before health care policy, which he will deliver later this afternoon.
Obama said that his proposal is “where we have ended up” after a thorough discussion in the past year.
Playoffs at hand, President Barack Obama took command Wednesday in a last attempt by Democrats to adopt the bitterly disputed health care legislation, calling for an “up or down vote” in the weeks after the rules to deny Republicans the ability to kill the bill with just talk.
Coming to the White House audience of invited guests, many of them dressed in white medical coats, Obama decided rejected talks with Republicans to draft new legislation from scratch. “I can not see how a year of negotiations would help. Other insurance companies do not start from scratch, “says the president said, referring to another round of announced premium increases affecting millions who buy individual coverage.
While Obama said he wanted action within a few weeks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Seemed to indicate a final result may take much longer. “We remain committed to this work and we will take every opportunity to deliver meaningful reform in years,” he says.
The results will affect nearly all Americans, procedures mandated major changes in the way they receive and pay for health care, or maintenance of existing systems, which leaves one million without coverage, and many others were dissatisfied with what they get. With Republicans united in opposition, there is no security for the outcome in Congress – or that Democrats will go along with the changes Obama called Wednesday in what he described as a cross-party motion.
